What is the Baden Powell Challenge?

This is the highest award a Guide can achieve. It is an individual challenge and can take up to and over a year to complete. Before starting the challenge a Guide must have made their promise, gained at least two Guide Challenge Badges and also two interest badges.

To finish the award Guides need to attend a Baden Powell Adventure. These are residential events that are a celebration of all they have achieved. They are plenty of fun, challenging, adventurous, an opportunity to make new friends and also find out what's next in Guiding.

What is involved?

For a guide to obtain her BP Challange they need to complete ten clauses from five different zones. Your Guide leader will make sure that each clause is challenging and appropriate for you, and will give support and encouragement throughout the challenge.
The five zones, each with different aims:

-
Healthy Lifestyles - To encourage Guides to lead a healthy lifestyle by promoting physical, emotional ad spiritual well-being
-
Global Awareness – To increase awareness of global issues and of the contribution each Guide can make
-
Discovery – To challenge Guides with new experiences and adventure
-
Skills and Relationships – To develop Guides' self-confidence and self-worth and to improve their interpersonal and life skills
-
Celebrating Diversity – To promote active citizenship among Guides, developing their awareness of rights and responsibilities for all

After all this they then have a meeting with their District Commissioner who will be pleased to hear all about what they've been doing for the challenge and will award them with their hard earned Baden Powell Challenge Award.

The challenge is not for the feint hearted and the Guides who complete it are rightly proud of their achievements.
