Leaders in guiding

Without our many Leaders, guiding in Derbyshire simply would not happen. Being a Leader is one of our most rewarding roles. You can work directly with girls, supporting them and helping them to grow into confident young people.

Launched in August 2022, the leader development programme (LDP) was created as a result of lots of consultation with volunteers.
It replaces the leadership qualification (LQ) which volunteers said was outdated and took too long to complete.
The leader development programme offers a self-led learning journey with bitesize content and a flexible approach to learning.
Who can become a leader?
The leader role is women-only, which includes trans women and non-binary people. You can start working towards it from the age of 16. But you can only become a leader once you are 18 and have completed your A Safe Space level 3. Adults working towards becoming a leader are called leaders in training.
